I recently commented on your Cube36 post. The code I posted had a bug in it. I've fixed the bug so that it would actually find all permutations (it was just getting lucky with the 3x3 test). I've also changed it so that if you feed it the "faked" board, it will find 26 permutations (ignoring the special yellow/orange pieces).
